Privacy
Privacy, in plain language.
What’s The Craze is a parent-focused information site. This page explains how the site currently handles visitor information and will be updated if those practices change.
What the site asks from you
The site does not offer visitor accounts, comments, newsletter signup, or purchases. If you voluntarily use the contact form, it asks for your name, email address, and message so the inquiry can be reviewed and answered.
Analytics, ads, and browser storage
Analytics are enabled only when Vercel reliably identifies a visit as coming from the United States, the browser is not sending a Global Privacy Control signal, and the visitor has not turned analytics off. For visits outside the United States or visits whose country cannot be reliably determined, Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity are not loaded. The site does not show a global consent popup.
For eligible US visits, What’s The Craze uses Google Analytics 4 to measure visits, guide views, clicks on Amazon affiliate links, and contact forms accepted by the site for delivery. It also uses Microsoft Clarity to understand site usability through measures such as heatmaps and masked session replays. An affiliate-link click is not a purchase, and the site does not receive or record Amazon sale details. A contact success means the site accepted the submission for processing; it does not independently confirm that an email reached the inbox.
The site honors Global Privacy Control and stores a visitor’s analytics choice in that browser. The “Privacy choices” control in the footer lets an eligible US visitor turn analytics off or back on. Clearing browser storage clears that saved choice, so the default for a later eligible US visit applies again. Google Analytics or Microsoft Clarity may use analytics cookies or browser storage only during eligible US visits when analytics are on. Advertising storage, advertising user data, and ad personalization remain disabled. Microsoft Clarity project cookies are turned off. Learn more in the Google Privacy Policy and Microsoft Privacy Statement.
Contact-form fields are explicitly masked from Clarity, and names, email addresses, message text, and other entered values are not sent to either analytics provider. The site’s custom events use clean page paths, bounded guide and product codes, and static form identifiers. Google Enhanced Measurement remains enabled and may also record standard events such as outbound clicks and form starts or submits, together with public link destinations and static form metadata. Those standard events and the site’s custom events are not treated as purchases.
Some approved guides include clearly labeled Amazon affiliate links. If you follow one, Amazon’s own privacy and tracking practices apply, and What’s The Craze may earn a commission from a qualifying purchase.
Hosting and technical information
What’s The Craze is hosted by Vercel. Vercel may process standard technical, request, and security information to deliver and protect the site. That information may include an IP address, browser or device details, requested pages, and timestamps. The contact form also uses keyed hashes derived from the sender’s IP address and email address in short-lived rate-limit counters. Raw IP addresses are not stored in those counters. Expired counters are removed during later submissions.
Children’s privacy
What’s The Craze is written for parents and caregivers. Analytics are used to understand this parent-focused site, not to profile children. The contact form is intended for adults. Children should not use it to send personal information.
Links to other sites
The site links to independent source websites, including Google Trends, Wikimedia, the GDELT Project, and Bluesky. Those websites have their own privacy practices. Review their policies before providing information to them.
How contact messages are handled
A submitted name, email address, and message are sent through the site’s email delivery provider to the site’s private inbox. Those providers process the submission to deliver it. The information is used to review and respond to the inquiry, and it is not published on the site. Please do not include sensitive personal information.
